Xiaomi has entered Bangladesh a while ago. But those with a low-budget were a bit disappointed with all their higher priced release. Now, Xiaomi finally bought Xiaomi Redmi Go a real low priced smartphone. Let us go through this device in this short review.
If you look at the design, it is pretty basic. The bezels are pretty big with no full-view screen. The back-side looks like a standard old-day Android device. But it is pretty light and compact. The display is just 5-inch and you may enjoy holding it in the hand compared to the above 6-inch notch displays. If you like a simplistic, casual and practical phone for day to day use, it is considered an adequate design. The display is of IPS HD quality and the colors are well-adjusted. Viewing experience should be quite satisfactory except you may have some issue under the sunlight.
The battery is a 3000 mAh large one with up to 10 days of standby time. Smaller display and compact OS functionality may ensure a long backup. There is a 28 nm Snapdragon 425 chipset with 1 GB RAM and Adreno 308 GPU. Now, this is nothing over the top. Many high graphics apps are not supported in this phone and the supported ones will lag. But it is the right choice for using small and light apps. YouTube may run much faster with the YouTube Go edition and 4G support. You can also save a lot of internet data as it will ask you to select a video quality (480p, 720p, 1080p etc.) and approximate data usage before playing a video which is great for those on a budget. So, fast internet browsing, watching videos, using social media, messengers and useful apps should be pretty smooth. The well-balanced, optimized hardware and software indicates good service for the long-run as well.
Both front and back camera quality are decent. But you won’t get crisp shots with a lot of details like low-mid range budget. There will also be a fair amount of noise in the low-light scene. But still a fine deal for the cost.
Xiaomi Redmi Go comes with a dedicated microSD slot, FM Radio, WiFi hotspot etc. features. There is no face unlock, fingerprint or OTG which are some of its disadvantages. Overall, it is a recommended phone for casual and light users with a lower budget.
