Samsung Galaxy J4 is a well-balanced low-mid range smartphone. We haven’t seen an impressive Samsung phone in this price range for a while now. But Galaxy J4 could amaze us with some fine specs. We consider this one of the finest low-mid range smartphones in the current Bangladeshi market for a few good reasons.
3000 mAh battery is offering up to 20 hours 3G talk-time and the battery is removable which are some big positives. But there is no fast charging, but we didn’t expect it in this price range anyway. 2 GB RAM, 1.4 GHz quad-core CPU, Exynos 7570 chipset and Mali T720 GPU ensure decent performance and relatively smooth GPU oriented app usage in low settings environment. We find that this phone is rather for careful and modest users who prioritize durability. For performance-focused phone, check out Xiaomi Redmi 6.
The 13 MP autofocus back camera impressed us the most in this device. You will get natural looking photos with pleasant color contrasts and focus in the daylight. The full HD video recording quality is also pretty nice. The front camera is just 5 Megapixel and a little blurry sometimes but the colors are balanced in the daylight. Night shots are videos are average satisfactory. The most appreciated thing on our side is that there is no auto beautify, AI polishing or scene detector that modifies the natural environment and colors. From an artistic point of view, we put Galaxy J4’s camera above most other phones in this budget category.
5.5 inches super AMOLED HD display is quite generous from Samsung for the price. Super AMOLED HD will provide you with much better colors and sharpness than an LCD HD display. We don’t know of any phone which is offering this kind of high-quality display in this price range. So, another thumbs up for Samsung.
There is 4G network coverage and up to date Android Oreo OS to ensure fast internet browsing. There are OTG support, dual-SIM and a dedicated MicroSD card slot. We also got the “Samsung Secure Folder” to add an extra layer of security to multimedia files and documents. Call quality, sound, GPS accuracy are great too. All these make Samsung Galaxy J4 a highly competitive gadget upon its release. But there are a few drawbacks. The display is also not a trendy full-view display, there is no fingerprint unlock and there is no display protection such as Gorilla Glass.
